“PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS” was a useful workshop for us :), which mainly led us to POSITIVE THINKING. We learned that our happiness depends much on our decision.
The Cassette Buttons were used to bring us to interesting points:
“Play”: Be in a flow; be happy with our work / studying
“Pause”: Have a break to spend time with your beloveds
“Record”: Body changes our mind, positive body languages lead us to positive thinking
“Backward”: Look back our dreams
“Forward”: Set goals for our lives basing on our dreams. Imagine when we are 80 years old and write a book about our own life, what are the titles of our books?
And remember in order to be happy, sometimes you just need to accept to do embarrassing things ^^.
At the end, we danced together with HAPPY SONG. Well, we don't know how about the rest, but with some of us, these cheered us up
Finally, time for STREET LOVE had come, that was a nice chance for us to serve together.
After gathering to be briefed about some basic instructions for STREET LOVE, we were divided into small groups with bags of rice, fruits and water. Each group had one and a half hour to deliver meals to street people in different districts. At 4PM, we all started…
The scale of our activity was not big but it was good enough for us to contribute our little ability to needy people. That was very beautiful to see the smiles of people who rarely smile in their lives. Our bags might not be a big help to them, but somehow, we want them to know they are still cared and loved.
Moreover, we are learning by doing. The more we do, the more we can note to improve for next times.
Well done everyone and as you shared, YES! YOU ARE USEFUL with your meaningful acts.
BIG THANKS to those who have supported us! :)
“Character First” is a monthly workshop which we share about one good character, this is always a night full of fun but still with meaningful content.
After a fun icebreaker, the team revealed the topic with us:“Determination”. This topic is useful for everybody.
As a determined person, setting a “right” goal for ourselves is a basic foundation. But a goal is just a beginning, to reach it we need to learn to ignore all distractions, turn others’ discouragement into motivation and face with all problems head on.
To share with us useful advices about the above things, the team added into their short and sharp speech with touching video clips, amazing skits and cool game. At the end, the team taught us “Determination” song with dancing – “…Keep on moving, keep on moving, keep on moving till the work is done....”.
We hope everybody joining was inspired and could get something to practice the character of Determination more in daily life.
We hope to see you at this workshop again on March 2015!
A Saturday night on 17th Jan, our friends from Thailand brought to us a great “Cultural night” with many different activities. We had a chance to get an overview about Thai, Lao, Brazilian and American cultures. We played so hard with funny games prepared by the team. We enjoyed the traditional dances performed by our friendly and talented friends. They also prepared a traditional food from Thailand for us. It’s called “Pat Thai”. It was such a great night.
Thanks so much for the careful preparation, Team!
Sozo sells handmade Jewelry and uses the income for charity work to help the needy.
We meet volunteers and students and make them together every 2 weeks on Wednesday. Last month, we met together with the Thailand Team. Sitting around tables, we made more new products: many bracelets in different colors, earrings with different styles and many magnets.
People that never made jewelry before learned really fast how to make it. Well done!
While putting beads on string or cluing pictures on magnets, we talked and got to know each other better. After two hours of chit chatting and working hard, we finished with new products.
What a great time together! Thank you to those coming and helping us! We hope to see you at our next jewelry making (the coming one will be tomorrow 04Feb15, 4-6pm at Sozo top floor)
On 18th Jan, Sozo held an outdoor activity called “Sozo’s Amazing Race” with Thailand Team. We all had so much fun and of course, sweated a lot with exiting games. The players were really great when they enthusiastically and quickly completed all the tasks: Selling cookies, Teaching Vietnamese for foreigners, Serving people on street, Finding certain places and taking pictures… even though they had to run around 23/9 Park, Ben Thanh market and Sozo’s area… All experienced many things through this morning such as teamwork, serving, helping, teaching, observing, selling… Furthermore, we had spent more time with Thailand Team, practiced with them and enjoyed the morning!
Hope to see you next time!
Thanks for joining us to welcome thevolunteers from California even they had been with us for only few days.
In the morning of 04th January, after picking up the team, we drove to a park in district 7. It wasn't onlycalm and empty but we also had great weather. After a couple games in which wetried to remember everyone’s name – so hard with English and Vietnamese names, weplayed a running and chasing game named Tiger and Tarzan.
Then we split intogroups and competed against each other, we found out who could jump thehighest, dance the craziest and walk like a crab the fastest. I'm not sure ifthe “peach”, “apple”, “banana” or “strawberry” team won, but I'm sure everybodyhad to laugh at least one time. There was also time for a break with drink, snacks and talking… After all, we had a great morning together!
On a sunny day of 28th December, we held a “HCM city discovery” with a Taiwan team and students. We did have a good time and let the Taiwan team know more about HCM city in particular and Vietnam in general.
We had breakfast together at a small store sold “PHỞ” on De Tham Street. We had a chance to introduce to foreigners one of the traditional foods in Vietnam.
After breakfast, we were full of energy to go around HCM city by motorbikes. Then, we stopped at War Remnant Museum on Vo Van Tan Street, Dist.3 and walked through it. It was not only a chance for us to spend time and practice English with Taiwan team, but also a chance for Taiwan team to get to know more about Vietnam’s history. We did have a great and meaningful morning.
We hope to see you next time at our “HCM City discovery”
On 27th December, we had a “Finding your passion and Learning styles” workshop with Ascala from England. We were concerning about our passion, our ability to become who we want to be. It was a chance for us to discover ourselves.
By “personality type indicator questions” we could know which type we were and based on that, we could know more about our characteristics.
With the careful preparation, exciting games, short - sharp sharing, and helpful documents, Ascala inspired us to keep finding our passions and live for them as she did. Even we have to face with problems head on, motivate ourselves by our passion. This is the one can help us overcome and get success.
We did have time to think what our “passion” is. How about you? Are you concerning where your passion is?
Come and join us next time!
On 21st December, we had a “Photography workshop” at Sozo with the team from Taiwan. They shared with us how to take a great photo.
Firstly, we had to know our cameras in general and how to adjust them. And with 3 basic steps as the team shared with us, we were able to take nice photos. We also had a chance to go around Bui Vien Street and took photos with topic “some days” the Taiwan team required.
It was a great workshop for those who are interested in photography.
