On 18th Jan, Sozo held an outdoor activity called “Sozo’s Amazing Race” with Thailand Team. We all had so much fun and of course, sweated a lot with exiting games. The players were really great when they enthusiastically and quickly completed all the tasks: Selling cookies, Teaching Vietnamese for foreigners, Serving people on street, Finding certain places and taking pictures… even though they had to run around 23/9 Park, Ben Thanh market and Sozo’s area… All experienced many things through this morning such as teamwork, serving, helping, teaching, observing, selling… Furthermore, we had spent more time with Thailand Team, practiced with them and enjoyed the morning!
Hope to see you next time!
Thanks for joining us to welcome thevolunteers from California even they had been with us for only few days.
In the morning of 04th January, after picking up the team, we drove to a park in district 7. It wasn't onlycalm and empty but we also had great weather. After a couple games in which wetried to remember everyone’s name – so hard with English and Vietnamese names, weplayed a running and chasing game named Tiger and Tarzan.
Then we split intogroups and competed against each other, we found out who could jump thehighest, dance the craziest and walk like a crab the fastest. I'm not sure ifthe “peach”, “apple”, “banana” or “strawberry” team won, but I'm sure everybodyhad to laugh at least one time. There was also time for a break with drink, snacks and talking… After all, we had a great morning together!
On a sunny day of 28th December, we held a “HCM city discovery” with a Taiwan team and students. We did have a good time and let the Taiwan team know more about HCM city in particular and Vietnam in general.
We had breakfast together at a small store sold “PHỞ” on De Tham Street. We had a chance to introduce to foreigners one of the traditional foods in Vietnam.
After breakfast, we were full of energy to go around HCM city by motorbikes. Then, we stopped at War Remnant Museum on Vo Van Tan Street, Dist.3 and walked through it. It was not only a chance for us to spend time and practice English with Taiwan team, but also a chance for Taiwan team to get to know more about Vietnam’s history. We did have a great and meaningful morning.
We hope to see you next time at our “HCM City discovery”
On 27th December, we had a “Finding your passion and Learning styles” workshop with Ascala from England. We were concerning about our passion, our ability to become who we want to be. It was a chance for us to discover ourselves.
By “personality type indicator questions” we could know which type we were and based on that, we could know more about our characteristics.
With the careful preparation, exciting games, short - sharp sharing, and helpful documents, Ascala inspired us to keep finding our passions and live for them as she did. Even we have to face with problems head on, motivate ourselves by our passion. This is the one can help us overcome and get success.
We did have time to think what our “passion” is. How about you? Are you concerning where your passion is?
Come and join us next time!
On 21st December, we had a “Photography workshop” at Sozo with the team from Taiwan. They shared with us how to take a great photo.
Firstly, we had to know our cameras in general and how to adjust them. And with 3 basic steps as the team shared with us, we were able to take nice photos. We also had a chance to go around Bui Vien Street and took photos with topic “some days” the Taiwan team required.
It was a great workshop for those who are interested in photography.
On December, we had a wonderful team with us from Taiwan. To show them a little bit about the city at night and to share with them about our living way here, we organized a City tour in the evening of 11th December.
Especially around Christmas time, there was a lot of decoration everywhere. On that occasion, we met in the morning of 21st December and together as a small group, we learnt how to make little Christmas trees out of normal papers and ways to decorate them. They aren't only nice decoration but also a great gift.
Good job, everybody that joined!
